What is Government doing for us?
I have been asking myself this a lot. One thing I do know is that I have no confidence that government will solve our problems. When I look at all government I do not see much that has any efficiency other than at some individuals who are doing the best they can at the job tasks assigned to them. However when you put politics into play then get into a standoff where political interest out weigh the good of the whole of our country. The economic down turn we are facing is something that was long over do because the nature of our economic system it has ups and downs and we had a long up swing. Up swings tend to create waste so the down turns tend to clean out our system and keep it health. I do feel that the down turn has been amplified by government interference with one example being the mark to market accounting requirement. I may be over simplifying this but any time you value any system to its lowest common denominator can not be health. The present administration has not stopped playing politics and has a notion the big government is better. I challenge you to show me any government program that is successful and run with any efficiency. I can understand stimulus spending on things that improve our infrastructure and provide a benefit to the citizens as a whole. That would be wise use of tax payers dollars. The whole idea that we pass a stimulus bill without debate, without reading it to get the pork out of it is totally ludicrous. I suppose that all we can do as individuals is try to hang on until we recover dispute what government has done. That is all I am doing for better or worse. We need to elect some common sense at the next election cycle and try to rein in out of control spending. What takes the cake is that now because I have some fiscal responsibility I am a right wing extremist and I thought I was just a business man. Go figure!!
